Some places are so well preserved, that being able to go there should be taken as a true privilege. Tupai is one of these. A heart put in the middle of the ocean, located 16 km north of the romantic Bora Bora. This could sound too good to be true!
This is however what is Tupai, a 11 km2 atoll looking like a heart when you see it from the sky. It is made of a double lagoon and several motu filled with coconut trees. Nobody around nor any hotel structure. Only birds live here along with sea turtles who come on the beaches from november to lay eggs. The atoll doesn’t have any pass, but is equipped with a landing strip, made in 2001.
The only visitors who come to the island are dive centers from Bora Bora, who come here on a day trip, or the helicopter of the company Tahiti Helicopters which organizes romantic tours on demand. Passengers on board of Air Tahiti flights between Bora Bora and Maupiti may also enjoy the wonderful aerial view over Tupai.
A good tip for that : departing Bora, you should seat on the right hand side of the plane!
