Civil marriages in French Polynesia

In accordance with the national civil code, ten days must be allowed for the wedding banns to be published.

The following documents must be provided to the municipality where the wedding documents must be provided to the municipality where the wedding is to take place:

For UK citizens:

Proof of identity for both spouses
Birth certificate of both spouses
Proof of residency

Traditional marriage ceremonies

In addition to a civil marriage, the couple may organize a traditional weeding ceremony, without legal implications to complete a civil marriage or to be renew their vows. Most of the large hotels, as well as the Tiki Village on Moorea offer this type of service.

In hotels, the guests on honeymoon are welcomed by presents of welcome. If numerous services for honeymooners, “Honeymoon” are also available (romantic dinner, floral classification, private excursions).
